This is an event we are so proud of, it ran over the course of 5 years and was acknowledged by the World BBQ Association as the Largest International BBQ Cook-Off in the World! It attracted a footfall of over 40,000 each year, with over 100 teams taking part in an amateur competition on the first day, with winners going forward to take part in the professional Chef’s Challenge the following day!
This Chef;s Challenge is normally carried out on the second day of the Cook-Off Competition.
This is the day that the chefs from the hospitality industry and professional BBQ competitors from all over the world along with the winners of the amateur competition get an opportunity to compete for the honour of being National Grand Champion BBQ Chef.
This annual event has proven a massive success over the years and this year, 2014, it’s going to be bigger than ever! It is the 1000 year anniversary of the death of Killaloe’s most famous local, Brian Ború, at the Battle of Clontarf. Killaloe Ballina will celebrate the life and High Kingship of Brian Ború throughout the year with many events, including a massive BBQ Competition at the end of August.
